Wanderings

Crescent City, California

On the last leg of our journey south, we headed toward Crescent City on the Northern California Coast. The change in temperature was dramatic and welcome after the 100 degree temps in Grants Pass.

We passed by Jedediah Smith State Redwood Park and stopped for another walk through our favorite trees.

Stopping by the Visitor Centers in the parks was always very worthwhile. The rangers are a wealth of information and have wonderful suggestions on where to go.

Jedediah Smith is on the edge of Crescent City where we spent the night in a really nice VRBO right on the beach.

In the morning, we headed south toward the airport just north of Eureka where I caught my plane home. We had time for one more trek through the trees at Prairie Creek State Redwood Park on the way.

The Redwoods are indeed a very special, irreplaceable part of our state’s and nation’s heritage. I could walk through them every day and never tire of it. Every turn brings a new tree with its own personality and character. I often wondered about the stories they could tell of the centuries they have witnessed. Truly amazing.
